We are so thrilled that you are interested in bringing home a labrador puppy as a new addition to the family. This is such an exciting time but also a huge commitment. Labs are an amazing breed with the ability to bond fast and strong to their family but can also be quite rowdy and playful which is why it is so important for families to be willing to give their puppy lots of love and playtime. It is also important to make sure these puppies are confident, happy, and well balanced which is why we immediately begin handling the puppies from birth and exposing them to new/safe environments, animals, and different people. By the time you pick up your puppy, they will be exposed to adult dogs, cats, chickens, loud noises, different terrains, car rides, etc.
Training is essential with labradors especially since they tend resort to undesired behaviors such as chewing, jumping, and digging when bored. Before our puppies leave, we already start some of the training. Using litter boxes or turf has been proven to make potty training easier at home by instilling the concept that there is a place to go potty and a place not to go potty. The puppies will be crated briefly throughout their time here as well. This will hopefully help diminish the crying/whining that usually occurs when starting crate training.
Reserving a puppy
The first step is to fill out our Puppy Application on our Good Dog website. This form will let us know what you are looking for and if you are a good fit for our puppies. This is where you will tell us color, sex, and personality preference. If approved, you will be on the waitlist. After the puppies are born, you may pick from the puppies that meet your criteria. The order of choice depends primarily on your spot on the waitlist.
Once puppies are born, a deposit of $500 will be required. If no deposit is received in 2 weeks from the birth of the puppies, a new potential family will be contacted and you will be put back on the waitlist. The deposit is non-refundable except in the event that the puppy has been chosen to be held back by us as a breeding prospect or unexpectantly passes. In this event, you may ask for the deposit back or you may choose to wait for the next litter and be at the top of the list. Payment is due in full at the time of pick-up when the puppies are 8 weeks old.
